🎲 You get a SYNTH, not a preset
This doesn't hand you a stored sound. It builds you an instrument — oscillators, filter, envelopes, modulators, wired together — and in the plugin every one of those is a live control you can turn, and a parameter your DAW can automate. Sweep the filter across eight bars. Draw the envelope in. It's your synth, and it behaves like one.
🔌 Plays in your DAW, free
ADEF Player is a free AU / VST3 / standalone plugin for Mac and Windows. It loads any ADEF preset — including UNIQUENCER patterns, arpeggios and modulators — and gives you five stereo outs. You never have to buy anything to play what you roll here.
🎛️ The full synth is Mac-only, for now
The ADEF Multi Poly Synth app — where you build racks, sequence, arrange songs and export — is a paid Mac app. A Windows version arrives with the JUCE port. Until then Windows gets the plugin and this generator, free.
🥁 Your sounds are welcome here
We host no sample packs. What lives here is the things that make sounds: presets, kits, projects and tracks. If your drum kit is built from your own sampling, upload it — that's exactly what this is for.
Get the free plugin
Download ADEF Player for your machine from section 05 below, and drop it in the plugin folder for your OS — the exact path is on the download card, with a copy button.
Roll a synth
Section 03. Pick role, style and wildness, hit ROLL. Preview it right here in the browser before you commit to anything.
Download the preset
It saves as a .json ADEF preset. Your browser puts it in Downloads,
which is one of the folders the plugin's LOAD browser already looks in — so there is
usually nothing to move.
Load it in your DAW
Open ADEF Player on a track, hit LOAD, pick the file. Play. Every knob on the face is a host-automatable parameter.
Silent? Check the output bus
ADEF Player has five stereo outs — Main plus FX1–FX4. The FX ones are aux sends, and most DAWs do not route them until you ask. If a preset loads and you hear nothing, look at the OUT card: if the bus reads FX1 (or FX2/3/4), switch it to DRY and it comes back. Everything on this page ships on DRY, but a preset somebody else uploaded may have been saved inside a session that had its auxes wired up.
Share what you make
Built something good in the Mac app? Upload it in section 04 so somebody else can play it.

It is a per-step effect sequencer that runs inside the voice, in the audio path — not on the bus afterwards. That distinction is the entire reason it exists.
Every other unit in ADEF's modulation path is instantaneous. The filter, the compressor, the EQ, the overdrive, the waveshaper — each one answers the modulation value at that sample and remembers nothing about the sample before it. The only time-based effects lived at bus level, after the voice was already built, so they smeared the whole patch instead of dirtying it from the inside. Eric, starting the design: “I could not find or make a preset that is Serum dirty, and now I know why.”
The invention is clocks nested three deep. A PATTERN is a musical length — bars and beats — divided into STEPS. Each step picks one effect. DIVISION then cuts that step into SEGMENTS, and every segment sweeps that effect's main parameter from its own minimum to its own maximum, along its own curve, in its own direction. Pull the segment handles down and the effect arrives and then stops dead, leaving a hole — an instant gater.
Eighteen effects — the 303 and ADEF filters, flanger, phaser, crush, delay and filter-delay, three types each — built on three engines rather than eighteen one-offs, so they behave consistently instead of each having its own character bugs.
★ It locks to your song
Set RETRIGGER ▸ FOLLOW and the pattern is wherever the bar is — not wherever your finger landed. It reads your DAW's own clock, so it survives a locate, a loop jump and a stop/start, two instances agree with each other, and what you bounce is what you heard. Change the session tempo mid-note and the pattern stretches with it instead of lurching.
Reading the preset cards below: a preset set to KEY restarts its pattern at every note-on — that is by design, and it means it will not line up with your bar line. FOLLOW is the mode that locks to the song. If sync is ever the complaint, check RETRIGGER first.

byME hosts nothing sampled. There are no factory sample packs here, no sample marketplace, and no ASR-10 library. ADEF reads your own disks — you bring the sounds you already own.
What lives here is the things that make sounds: synth presets, drum kits, projects and tracks. When those carry your own recordings, that is welcome and encouraged — a kit you built by sampling your own hardware is exactly what this library is for.
What we ask. When you upload, you're telling us the material is yours or licensed for you to pass on. We don't run automated scanners over your work — a machine can't tell your kick drum from anyone else's, and we're not going to insult you by pretending it can. A person reviews new uploads weekly. If something turns out to be unlicensed we'll take it down and tell you why.
Please don't upload commercial sample packs, ripped ROM content, or anything you'd be uncomfortable putting your own name on. It's a small community — that's what keeps this simple for everybody.
